Best of Park Tool Tech Tuesday, volume one

Not only are Park Tool the biggest name in bike tools, but they're also pretty handy when it comes to making videos, too. Those videos aren't just plugging products, either, they've made a whole wealth of educational videos for mechanics and riders alike to figure out how to better look after their bikes.

One of the most popular series from Park Tool is Tech Tuesday, a series with a name that's pretty self-explanatory. We've picked a few of our favourite Tech Tuesday videos below that cover some of cycling life's most common issues: bottom brackets, disc brakes and pads and tyre sizing. Check them out below.

If you want proper performance from disc brakes, you need to make sure they're bedded in correctly before you go out and ride in anger. IN the above video, Calvin and Logan from Park Tool show you how to bed in new rotors and make sure those brakes are firing on all cylinders (or pistons, maybe) for your next ride.

Probably the most irritating noise on a bike is anything to do with the bottom bracket. That's because BB noises are both persistent and require a little more maintenance to cure than, say, a rattling bottle cage. In this one, Calvin shows you how to know whether your bottom bracket needs replacing, all without removing your cranks.

If you've ever looked closely at a bike tyre, you'll have noticed that there's a hell of a lot of stuff written on them and lot of it looks like quite sinister code. The above video talks you through bike tyre sizing and shows you what all those numbers printed on your tyres actually mean.

The last one for today is about disc brake pad replacement, and specifically when shoudl you replace those worn pads? Logan from Park Tool talks you through the signs of pad wear and when  you need to think about getting a fresh set on your bike.

If you're still hungry for more bike tech talk, head over to Park Tool's YouTube channel and there's all the content you could ever possibly want. You can find the entire Tech Tuesday playlist here, and that's over 150 videos just to get you started.
