Cycling has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember (& before that, I'm told!) I still ride as often as possible, particularly nowadays in 'Retro' events, such as L'Eroica. My passion is to get people onto the right bike for themselves, so they can appreciate the joys of the open road, or trackway! Mick Madgett , Store Manager.

About the store

Madgetts Cycles have been around since 1924, though the founder, Albert Madgett, (Current owner Mick's grandfather) was first apprenticed into the cycle trade in 1902. Mick has worked full time in the shop since 1975, taking over the reins after his father's sudden death in 1979. The shop is still run very much as a 'Traditional' cycle shop, catering for all needs, from obscure parts for a vintage restoration, to setting up the latest electronic gearing, the staff are able to advise & supply. Wheelbuilding is another speciality, & wheels built by Mick have been used to win National & World championship medals over the years. His father Eric holds the trump card though, having built wheels used in the Tour de France back in the 1950's!
