Long Eaton Cycles

About the store

Long Eaton Cycles was established by Tristian and Sharon Brown in July 2002, when we took over an existing business, located at 49 Tamworth Road called Push and Pedal/Stirlands cycles, which had been trading since 1968. From day one we have supported local cycle clubs or had our own cycle team, and for a number of years we joined up with other local business to support local riders. Currently we sponsor the Bryan Steel Academy (Bryan Steel is an ex Olympic and World Medallist on the track) The academy supports young cyclists between the ages of 18 and 23, with the aim of giving them the tools/knowledge to make it to the next level. In it's first two years riders have been successful in moving on to teams in Belgium and France. We provide the team with Bikes and Helmets from our extensive range.

Our current range of services includes, wheel building and wheel repairs, bicycle repairs and servicing, Di2 or EPS maintenance, custom builds. We stock a huge range of parts and accessories from most of the leading brands, These are some of the brands we stock. Shimano, Pearl Izumi, Madison Clothing, Garmin, Profile, DT Swiss, Lazer Helmets, Continental, Maxxis, Thule. Our Bike brands include Ridley, Genesis, RidgeBack and Saracen. All our staff are avid cyclists and are able to offer advice on the products we sell through real world

"The business is owned and run by a husband and wife team, Tristian and Sharon Brown. Tristian: I come from a retail background, having worked in a major retailer since the age of 16, when I was basically the tea boy, moving on up the career path to become a super store manager responsible for 35 staff and a 2 million pound turnover, in the year 2000 I took a redundancy option as I had become despondent with the way the business was moving away from good customer service ethics to a stack it high sell it to anyone and everyone ethos. This did not fit with the values that I had been instilled with from my family who'd had retail businesses going back through generations. I was also an avid cyclist and had been since the age of 14 when I saw the Tour de France on TV. I tried my hand at BMX, mountain biking but really enjoyed the speed aspect of the road bike, be that on the track, in a bunch or a time trail, I found that I was a reasonable club cyclist and won many club trophy's. In 2002 I had an incident with some black ice that ended up with me being on crutches for the best part of six months, it pretty much ended all of my cycling. Nowadays I manage to get a few weeks riding in at most to help with the battle against the weight but am more than happy to teach my grandchildren learn to ride their bikes." Tristan Brown, Store Manager.
